Privacy Policy — MyBudgetPlanner
Information on the processing of personal data relating to the Android application MyBudgetPlanner, an app for managing personal budgets and finances. Provided pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
1. Data controller
The data controller is Simone Marini, the developer of the MyBudgetPlanner application, who can be contacted as described in section 13.
2. In short
MyBudgetPlanner is designed to work entirely on the user's device. Specifically, the application:
- does not require you to create an account;
- does not send the data you enter to the developer, in any form;
- does not use analytics, tracking or profiling tools;
- does not display advertising;
- does not share or sell data to third parties;
- does not store data on developer servers, which do not exist.
The developer has no technical means of accessing the financial data you enter into the app.
There is one single exception to offline operation, and it is worth knowing about: the screen that shows your expenses on a map uses the Google Maps service and therefore requires a connection to Google's servers. This is explained in detail in section 6. Every other function of the application works with no internet connection at all.
3. Data processed by the application
The information you enter is stored exclusively in the device's internal memory, in a database held in the app's private area. Depending on how you use the app, this includes:
- budget entries, planned amounts, income, expenses and balances;
- recorded transactions, with date, amount, category and optional notes;
- the accounts and payment methods you set up (cash, current accounts, cards, savings, investments), with their balances and the statement-closing and charge dates of your credit card cycles;
- custom categories, reminders and app settings;
- the location optionally attached to a transaction (see section 4).
The application does not connect to your bank accounts, does not retrieve statements automatically and never asks for banking or financial service credentials: every figure is entered manually by you. Full payment card numbers are neither requested nor processed.
Because this data never leaves the device, there is no disclosure or dissemination of it, either to the developer or to third parties.
4. Location data
The application lets you optionally attach to a transaction the place where the expense was made, so that it can later be shown on the expense map.
Location is captured only when you explicitly ask for it, at the moment you choose to attach it to a transaction, and it is stored locally alongside that transaction. There is no background location tracking and no movement history. You can deny this permission without affecting any other function of the app, or revoke it at any time in your Android settings.
5. Permissions requested
The application requests only the permissions its features need:
| Permission | Why it is requested | Optional |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | To show the reminders you set, for example credit card due dates. Notifications are generated locally by the device. | Yes |
| Alarms and reminders | To make a reminder appear on the day and at the time you chose. | Yes |
| Biometrics | To let you unlock the app with a fingerprint or face recognition. The check is performed by the operating system: the app only receives the outcome (success or failure) and never accesses biometric data, which stays in the protected area of the device. | Yes |
| Location | To attach the place of an expense to a transaction, only when you ask for it (see section 4). | Yes |
| Access to a folder you choose | To save backup files and .xlsx exports in the folder you select, and to read them back when restoring or importing. The app only accesses the folder you selected. |
Yes |
The application does not access your contacts, messages, microphone, camera or any files other than those described above.
6. Third-party services and recipients
The application does not include any third-party advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or profiling tools.
Google Maps. Showing expenses on a map is built with Google Maps SDK for Android, provided by Google Ireland Limited (for users in the European Economic Area) and the companies of the Google group. When you open a screen containing the map, the SDK connects to Google's servers to download the map imagery: at that moment Google receives, as an independent data controller, the technical data needed to provide the service, including your device's IP address, the geographic area displayed and information about the app and the device. If you have attached locations to your transactions, the corresponding coordinates are sent to Google so that they can be placed on the map.
Google does not receive amounts, categories, descriptions, balances or any other financial data: that information stays on your device. Google may process the data it receives outside the European Union, on the basis of the safeguards set out in Chapter V of the GDPR (standard contractual clauses). That processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
How to avoid it: the map is an accessory feature. If you never open the map screen, the application makes no connection to Google's servers and keeps working entirely offline.
Distribution. Installation happens through the digital store you use (for example Google Play). The store operator independently processes data relating to the download and installation according to its own privacy policy, over which the developer has no control.
System backup. If you have enabled Android's automatic backup, a copy of the app's data may be saved to the cloud space linked to your Google account. This is an operating-system feature, managed by Google and switchable off in your device settings.
7. Backup and export
The application can create backups, including scheduled daily or weekly ones, and export
your data in .xlsx format. Files are written to the folder you choose and
remain entirely under your control.
If the folder you select is synchronised with a third-party cloud service (for example Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox), your backup files will be copied to that service under the terms and privacy policy of the provider you chose. That decision is yours, and so is the responsibility for it: backup files contain the financial data you entered into the app and deserve the same care as an accounting document.
8. Retention and deletion
Your data stays on the device for as long as you decide to keep it. You can delete it at any time by:
- deleting individual entries or transactions inside the application;
- clearing the app's data from your Android settings;
- uninstalling the application, which removes the locally stored data.
Backup files and exported files are not removed by uninstalling, because they live in the folder you chose: if you no longer need them, delete them manually, including any copy synchronised to the cloud. If Android's automatic backup is enabled, you may also need to remove the copy held in your Google account's cloud space.
9. Security
The application's data is stored in the private area reserved by the operating system, which other installed applications cannot access. Access to the app can be further protected with a fingerprint, face recognition or a PIN.
Protecting the device itself — screen lock, encryption, system updates — remains an essential part of keeping the information safe, and stays your responsibility, as does looking after any exported backup files.
10. Children
The application is intended for an adult audience managing their own personal finances, and is not designed to be used by children under 16.
11. Your rights
Since the developer neither collects nor stores the data you enter into the app, you
control that information directly on your own device: viewing, editing, exporting (in
.xlsx format) and deleting all happen locally, through the app's features
and your Android settings.
You retain the rights set out in Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability — in relation to any data you voluntarily send to the developer, for example when writing for support. In that case the data contained in your message is processed solely in order to answer your request and kept only for as long as handling it requires.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the application's features change or if the applicable law changes. The version published at this address is always the one in force; the date it was last updated is shown at the top of the page.
13. Contact
For any question about this policy, about how your data is processed or about exercising your rights, you can use the contact form on the developer's website:
mariniapps.it/contatti.php?lang=en
Messages sent through the form arrive directly in the controller's mailbox, and the reply goes to the email address given by the sender.
