Hi, I’m Simone
I work in IT. In my spare time, I build Android apps and enjoy photography and aviation.
I’m Simone Marini and I work as an IT technician in the automotive industry. I enjoy understanding how things work and finding solutions to the problems I encounter, both at work and in my personal projects.
Why I built this site
It’s a personal collection with two purposes:
- Keeping track of what I learn: technical problems, configurations, photography and planespotting are more useful when there’s time to explain them properly.
- Developing ideas: the Android section brings together the apps I’m working on and the updates I want to share.
My work
I work on IT infrastructure and support in an industrial setting: systems, business software, workstations and the small automations that save hours each week. The job teaches you one thing above all: a solution has to hold up in everyday use, not just in a test environment.
Development
The Android projects in the project section also start with practical needs. I’m currently working on MyCarCost, CozyReader and GeoSpotter AR, while MyBudgetPlanner remains a future project. I enjoy taking an app from the initial idea to testing it on a phone.
Photography
I mainly photograph landscapes and architecture: lines, light and geometry. Then there’s planespotting, which brings together two interests — aviation and photography — and is a great way to learn about shutter speeds and focusing on moving subjects.
How I use this blog
I don’t follow a publishing schedule. I write when there’s something I want to keep: a problem solved, a reliable configuration or a photo with a story behind it.
