MyBudgetPlanner is a project I’d like to build around personal budgeting. The idea is to have an overview of expected income and expenses on my phone, updating it throughout the month.
Start with the expenses still to come
Recording an expense helps you see where your money went. I’m also interested in the step before that: accounting for rent, bills and other commitments before deciding how much is left for everything else. The planner should let you compare these estimates with actual spending, without losing sight of the end of the month.
Credit cards
One feature I care about is handling cards properly. The purchase date and the day the money leaves your bank account can fall in different months. I’d like to set up each card’s billing cycle so I can see both what I’ve spent and when that amount will be debited.
Data and next steps
The plan is to enter transactions manually and store them on the phone, without connecting to bank accounts. Planned features also include backups and exports, so you can keep a copy of your data and view it in a spreadsheet.
MyBudgetPlanner remains a future project: it isn’t publicly available yet, and I haven’t set a release date. The app page has previews and planned features. If there’s something missing from the tools you use today, tell me about it.
