CozyReader Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 September 2026. Scope: CozyReader for Android, package com.mariniapps.cozyreader, version 1.2.0.
Developer
CozyReader is an app by MariniApps, developed by Simone Marini. For privacy questions and requests, use the contact form on mariniapps.it and mention CozyReader in your message.
Data and purposes
CozyReader works offline and does not require an account. It stores the content you enter on your device: titles, authors, publishers, media types, covers, personal book notes, volume numbers, total volume counts, series completion dates, reading dates and statuses, ratings and reading notes. It also stores theme, language and library layout preferences. Automatic language mode uses the primary device language to choose Italian or English; you can change this in Settings.
This information provides your library, reading diary and statistics and preserves your settings. Notes may contain personal information if you choose to enter it. The developer does not receive or have access to your library through the app.
Network access and third parties
This version contains no advertising, usage analytics or automatic crash-reporting SDKs. It does not request the Internet permission and does not send your library or preferences to developer servers. It does not access your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
Android, the device manufacturer and the app store may independently process operational or diagnostic information under their own settings and policies. These are not data-collection tools integrated by CozyReader.
Import and export
File access uses the Android document picker at your request. The app reads the file you select for import or writes a CSV to your chosen destination. It does not request general access to your documents.
Exported CSV files contain titles and reading entries, including notes, in readable text without encryption applied by the app. If you choose a cloud document provider or share a file, that service or recipient may process it under their own terms. The developer does not receive a copy through this operation. Preferences are not included in exports.
You select covers using the Android photo/document picker. The app reads only the selected image and stores a JPEG thumbnail in its private database, without adding a copy to the gallery. The original image stays at its source. Conversion reduces resolution and removes photo metadata, including any location metadata. The picker may also offer cloud providers governed by their own policies. CSV v2 exports include book notes, series information and cover thumbnails encoded as Base64; this encoding is not encryption.
Storage, protection and deletion
Your library is stored in a local Room/SQLite database within the app's private storage. The app does not add database encryption. Protection also depends on your device security and screen lock. The app disables Android automatic backup and includes exclusions for device-to-device transfer, subject to operating-system and device-manufacturer behavior.
Stored covers are removed when their titles or the entire library are deleted. This does not delete the original selected images or exported CSV files.
Data remains on your device until you remove it. You can edit or delete a reading, delete a title and its linked readings, or use Settings → Delete library to remove all library records. This action keeps your theme and language preferences. You can clear app storage in Android settings or uninstall the app to remove its preference data as well; system language preferences are managed by Android.
Exported files and other copies are not removed when you delete app data or uninstall. Delete those separately at their destinations. Deletion here means logical removal of data, not a guarantee of forensic erasure from storage media.
Requests and contact
You can manage your local data directly in the app and export it as CSV. Since the developer does not hold your library, they cannot retrieve it or delete it remotely. Use the contact form on the MariniApps website for questions. Information you choose to submit through that form is handled under the website privacy notice, available before submission. You do not need to send your library for a privacy request.
Any rights available under applicable data-protection law, including the right to contact the relevant supervisory authority, remain unaffected.
Changes and scope
This policy covers the CozyReader app. The MariniApps website has a separate privacy notice. Changes to features or data handling will be reflected in this policy and its update date.
